Graduate A Little Bit Each Day

This week I attended my daughter’s high school graduation church service and awards ceremony. During the sermon, the priest discussed the Latin origins of the word ‘graduation’.

Gradus meaning ‘a step’.

It was when he said, “Graduation is just another gradual step in life”, that the meaning connected for me. Graduation is not the end. It is the bridge between one phase and the next.

We have many ‘graduations’ in life. Some are formal. Some are less recognisable. All are just a step along our path.

It is the meaning we assign to those steps that matter.
